Achievements

Achievements are set goals that can be achieved in every Xbox 360 game. Typically this means performing a specific feat such as completing the game on a given difficulty level.
Unlocking achievements grants the player Gamer Points, raising the total Gamerscore for their Xbox Live Account. Regular retail games grant up to 1000 Gamer Points, whereas Xbox Live Arcade games can grant up to 200. The developer themselves decide how many Achievements they have and how many points are awarded.
To check your Gamerscore visit your Gamercard page on the Xbox Live Homepage, or press the Guide button on your Xbox 360 Controller at any time when connected to Xbox Live. The Gamercard also contains a link to your played games, showing the Achievements and Gamer Points awarded. In the Xbox 360 Dashboard you can find these on the Games Blade under Achievements or Played Games.
